Incontinence of Urine/Retention of Urine

Acupuncture effectively treats urinary incontinence without negative side effects, and significant improvement may be seen after approximately 2-3 treatments. Needles will not be used to puncture any sexual organs. Ping Yang has successfully treated over 100 patients suffering from incontinence.

Incontinence is more common in older individuals. Symptoms can range from mild leaking, uncontrollable wetting, and increased voiding frequency or urinary urgency, and may arise from engaging in everyday activities, from coughing and sneezing to laughing and lifting heavy objects.

Reasons for incontinence varies; urinary tract infections, vaginal infection or irritation, constipation, certain medicines, and childbirth can cause bladder control problems. Incontinence may be due to problems such as:

  • weak bladder muscles

  • overactive bladder muscles

  • blockage from an enlarged prostate

  • damage to nerves that control the bladder

How acupuncture can help:

Acupuncture is an efficient, multidirectional treatment for both incontinence and urine retention. It directly targets the sacral nerve and significantly reduces the pressure within the urinary tract, and causes increased contraction of the detrusor muscle, the primary muscle used in urination
